THE THREE  “E’s”:  Education, Experience, Examination

All Certified Interior Designers must meet an education, work experience and examination requirement under one of the following four categories (A, B, C or D):


CATEGORY A

  1. Graduate of a four or five year accredited interior design program;
  2. Two years of diversified interior design experience (3,744 hours);
  3. Provide evidence of passage of the required exam(s).

CATEGORY B

  1. Completed a three year accredited interior design certificate program;
  2. Three years of diversified interior design experience (5,616 hours);
  3. Provide evidence of passage of the required exam(s).

CATEGORY C

  1. Completed a two year accredited interior design certificate program;
  2. Four years of diversified interior design experience (7,488 hours);
  3. Provide evidence of passage of the required exam(s).

CATEGORY D

  1. A combination of interior design education and /or diversified interior design experience totaling eight years (14,976 hours) or more
  2. Provide evidence of passage of the required exam(s).
